Best Disinfectant Wipes
These days, keeping clean is more important than ever. Using wipes is convenient and hassle-free. Here's our top three:
These days, keeping clean is more important than ever. We’re just fine with this, especially when we saw how few people were Actually Washing Their Hands or disinfecting surfaces in their homes when the whole pandemic thing kicked off back in 2020. It’s important to know that since the early months of the outbreak, we understand more about how the coronavirus is transferred: less on surfaces than indoors in the air. In fact, the CDC says each contact with a contaminated surface will have less than a 1 in 10,000 chance of infection.
Now, while the COVID virus doesn’t necessarily hang out on surfaces all day long, some nasty things do. The one thing that we want to remind our readers of is that there are many other germs out that can still make you sick, so cleaning surfaces is still an important part of a housekeeping routine. A good can of wipes can help you stay on top of things, especially if you or somebody in your household has a compromised immune system or is sick.
While we are not seeing the shortages and price gouging we saw in 2020, some of these may not be as easy to come by, and we encourage you to check prices to be sure you are not being ripped off by resellers. For more information on safe shopping on Amazon, click here.
SANITIZE VS. DISINFECT? DOES IT MATTER?
Why do these wipes cost so much? They are disinfecting wipes, vs. sanitizing wipes. What’s the difference?
According to the CDC, disinfection is a process designed to eliminate many or all pathogenic microorganisms on inanimate objects. There are varying levels of disinfection, which can be affected by prior cleaning, what’s on the surface and the type of contamination, the concentration and exposure time of the surface to the substance being used to clean, and other environmental factors.
- Disinfecting kills germs on surfaces or objects. Disinfecting works by using chemicals to kill germs on surfaces or objects. This process does not necessarily clean dirty surfaces or remove germs, but by killing germs on a surface after cleaning, it can further lower the risk of spreading infection.
- Sanitizing lowers the number of germs on surfaces or objects to a safe level, as judged by public health standards or requirements. This process works by either cleaning or disinfecting surfaces or objects to lower the risk of spreading infection.
For some, use of disinfectant wipes may be overkill, and depending on where and how you plan to use them, it is perfectly acceptable to consider use of sanitizing or cleaning wipes. Sanitizing wipes are generally less irritating and have fewer safety precautions for usage.
